Een sfeervol salon en een gezellige eetkamer met uitzicht op de oceaan. Het zwembad in de exotische tuin is omringd door een terras met ligbedden.
Deze exclusieve 'sea-side' villa heeft directe toegang tot een verlaten zandstrand. De villa is een reconstructie van een 300 jaar oud 'Hollands huis', en was voltooid in 2002. Eens je de villa binnenwandelt, word je overvallen door die oude romantische sfeer. Vier kamers hebben toegang tot een open binnentuin, vier kamers hebben zicht op zee. Al de kamers hebben televisie, DVD, telefoon en zeer luxueuze bedden. Er is een zitruimte en een restaurant voor 20 personen met een uniek uitzicht op de oceaan. De villa is comfortabel bemeubeld met Oosters antiek.
U kunt rekenen op een volwaardige hotelservice. Met meer maatwerk dan gebruikelijk! Eten en drank kunt u zelf aankopen. Het huispersoneel – kok , kelner en kamerjongen – doet voor u de boodschappen en bereidt de maaltijden met marktverse producten en, voor de visliefhebbers, met versgevangen vis.

A cosy drawing room and a comfortable dining room with a view of the ocean. The swimming pool in the exotic garden is surrounded by a terrace with deck chairs.
This exclusive sea-side villa has direct access to a deserted sand beach. The villa is a reconstruction of a 300 years old Dutch house, and was finished in 2002. Once you enter the villa that old romantic atmosphere overtakes you. Four rooms have access to an open courtyard, one room is seafront. All the rooms have television, DVD, telephone and very luxury beds. There is a sitting room and a dinning room for 20 persons with unique view on the ocean. The house is comfortable furnished with oriental antiques.
Sri Lanka is characterised by its breathtakingly beautiful nature with tropical forests, mountains, waterfalls, nature reserves, large inland lakes, unspoilt beaches with fine sand, palms, tea plantations, elephants, the inconceivable blue colour and the turbulent surf of the Indian Ocean, and an extremely friendly population.
In the seventeenth century, Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) was situated on the route of the Dutch Eastindian Company. Although the Dutch were later succeeded by the British, they left deep marks. Dutch names on tombstones, a beautiful church, the remains of a fortress and the town ramparts in Galle, situated on the south coast, are indications of the Dutch presence on this island.
So is The Old Lady at the Sea, 7km north-west of Galle, directly by the Indian Ocean. Was it the home of a rich Dutch merchant? Was it a trade post? Was it a stopping place for the "luyden" of the Eastindian Company? Thanks to the spirit of enterprise of a Belgian family, the former Dutch property is about to come to life again. The building goes back to the seventeenth century and has been transformed into a cosy and charming villa, where the atmosphere of olden days is combined with every possible modern comfort in a very tasteful manner.
A full hotel service is provided, to suit everyone’s tastes. You can buy your own food and beverages, for which you pay local prices.
The staff - roomboy, waiter and chef - do the shopping and prepare all meals with daily fresh products, including freshly caught fish for fish lovers (or: for fish gourmets). All kinds of excursions are possible. You can make arrangements about this such as discovering this tropical island in a private car with English-speaking driver – who is also your guide.
